There is a glowing Amazon review that was updated to one star. The edited note is alarming enough to keep me away from this deal.

How is this not a deal that's gaining a lot of traction?

I bought a generic version of this two years ago and it's working well. It didn't even have a brand name. I think these are apple over supply items with logo removed.

There are over 5,000 reviews. I think the overall rating would be much lower if these were disaster experiences by many people. I think you are better off just trying it at this price and making sure when you use it that the thing doesn't get super hot. If it does get super hot junk it. I have a feeling for the vast majority of people they use this product and it is fine. Remember 5,000 reviews. I don't know if you don't clearly understand statistics but sure there is one horror story review but you're going to make that decision off that one review and there's over 5,000?

+1 if you have the MBP16", invest in better charger. This thing is probably ok when you don't push it to the absolute limit. I know my M1M MBP is pushing over 100W all the time. I have similar one that work gave me as spare and I use for other devices which works fine.

Probably because nobody sane is going to plug in their multi-thousand-dollar device into that.

I don't know the brand. And I don't trust $8 worth of material could give me a reliable high quality charger. So I'd pass.

There is a lower value coupon on the page, but X3TLRWHS should bring it down to $8.08. Don't forget to tap the arrow in the promo code box to apply the code.

Oh so you think this is intended for people with a multi-thousand dollar device even though those are a 3 percent of the market? Any reasonable higher priced devices already come with chargers. Clearly this is a backup, etc.

There are 300+ 1 star reviews out of 5000+ reviews. Certainly, you can decide by using statistics and say that the likelihood of you running into an issue is less than 10%, but are you willing to take a chance if the consequences is that it'll damage your device, and not just "stop charging"? Obviously for some people the answer is yes, but I find it absolutely acceptable if for others the answer is no.
