Community Reviews
This Dell 16 Plus looks like a strong productivity laptop, especially for dev work and everyday professional use. The Core Ultra 9 and 32GB of RAM are described as a powerhouse setup, and the 2.5K display is a highlight. Build quality and features come across as solid, and the price is framed as a big savings versus the XPS version. The main knocks are the 300 nit brightness, a reported Windows 11 blue screen issue tied to Dell Assistant restore tasks, and some concern about heavier weight and weaker graphics for gaming or demanding visuals.
The laptop can feel very fast for development work with Ultra 9 and 32GB RAM.
The 2.5K display offers higher resolution compared with a more power-hungry 4K XPS option.
A local Microcenter purchase experience has reportedly been positive after buying the deal while it was in stock.
Open-box pricing at Microcenter has reportedly lowered the effective cost to around $990 for this model.
The 300-nit brightness has been criticized as disappointing for screen-sensitive work.
A Dell Assistant OS restore background task reportedly can trigger blue screens on Windows 11 until Dell patches it.
The configuration can be confusing because Dell reportedly switches OS and CPU tier between Windows Home and Windows Pro selections.
The laptop has been described as heavy like a brick with a substantial power adapter.

I think Dells are okay for what they are. I got the XPS 13 when i had to replace my MacBook Air w/ windows (for business purposes), I'm not happy with Windows overall, it seems like their battery management is more of thought than an action; but the build and features of the Dell seem solid.
I noticed on Dell site, when you choose this model, they change the OS to home version and when you choose pro version of Windows OS, they change it to ultra 7 from Ulta 9. Does anyone know why would they be doing this? Is it not yet fully tested on Windows 11 pro?
