Anyone knows what happens with these things if the temp drops below their range(-13f here) ? Do they just not work well then, or does anything break?

the efficiency drops off as the outside temperature does... which means the condenser outside will have its fan blowing at maximum speed (to move as much air as possible and try to capture any heat energy out there), while the inside head will still blow out hot air, but the actual temperature of this air will range from warm to lukewarm. this happens gradually though, and even before the outside reaches the lower range (-13F) for the device. on a 45F degree day, my Mitsubishi hyper heat units will put out air measuring 130-140F; at 10F outside, the inside air output is about 100F; at -7F, it gets down to 80-85F. that's why they say insulation is so important with mini splits, bc it's easier for the units to be on constantly and maintain a temperature (esp when it's frigid cold out) than bringing a 50F room up to 70F (which is what happens when you cycle on and off, as in a traditional furnace). my units have never stopped running just because it's too cold or hot outside.

Looks like an AUX to me. Refrigerant(R32) and remote are the things I use to identify what rebrand they are. Definitely doesn't look like a midea. Probably not a gree.

Come on, guys, for $500, it's about the same price as your window shaker, what do you have to lose?
