This was a great starter Garmin for my 9 to 10 year old at the time. The one thing to watch is that overtime the device itself can slip out of the band so that's just something to watch for

This happen with my son Fitbit ace 3. It seems they all has same problem.

Yes much more reliable with a better bettery life than those cheap "a couple times use" watches .
