32GB if you can afford if you are trying to do some AI (text based gen not image or video)

Otherwise 24GB should be Gucci and great for most!
I'm personally leaning towards 32 for dev work now. I was in yellow memory pressure on an M5 with 16 gig just with a bunch of chrome tabs and Claudecode and warp terminal, with no VMs running, returned it. Need RAM way more than the extra cores of the Pro chips.

Great price. Excited to upgrade from an M1 with 8gb RAM and 256 memory to the M5 with 24gb RAM.

how do you consider a "Pro" with 512GB SSD nowadays? 4K footages will fill that thing up in seconds with thunderbolt 4. Geez! nice Ram though

local LLMs are not very good, not worth it overall imho
They aren't as good as cloud hosted LLMs like Claude Sonnet/Opus but if you want to use it a lot and with no cost other than electricity, the local LLMs are the way to go.

I've used plenty of them and personally I'm not comfortable using them for things I care. Grammar, natural language automation, and some other misc. stuff maybe.

Amazon deal with 32GM RAM and 1TB storage seems better at $1850 if you get the 6% back from Amazon Prime

What models were using? How many parameters? Local LLM's work really well for certain usecases.

Because editing 4K video is not what makes most people professionals. Besides that, the actual professional video editors need many more terabytes than the Mac can store. I use an 11 TB NAS and two 4 TB SSD's, so the internal storage doesn't really make much difference.

This is confusing MacBook Pro does not have the pro processor. I was hoping this laptop has Thunderbolt 5 but it only has M5 not the M5 pro or M4 Pro processor
