Available TitlesAbout these Games:
  • Devil May Cry
    • The first appearance of Dante, the ultimate devil hunter! With the blood of a legendary demon warrior flowing through his veins, Dante takes on a mission from the mysterious Trish to travel to Mallet Island and defeat Mundus, the king of the underworld. But this is no ordinary job for Dante, who is also motivated by revenge...
    • Use your sword and dual guns to pull off flashy combos in this classic title which introduced the "stylish action" genre to the world.
  • Devil May Cry 2
    • Set some time after the events of Devil May Cry, this sequel adds even more moves to Dante's arsenal and brings it to the next level of stylishness. Use the wall run to get the vantage point on your enemies, then assault them with a spinning barrage of bullets using Rain Storm. Reprise your role as Dante, or play as the new femme fatale, Lucia, who prefers deadly throwing daggers to bullets and utilizes her speed with ninja-like reflexes. Build up your Devil Trigger gauge, then transform into a powerful demon with enhanced power and speed. While in demon form, Dante and Lucia can also utilize Devil Hearts - amulets that give them special powers like the ability to fly, super speed or even slowing down time.
    • Devil May Cry 2 also introduces the unlockable bonus mode, Bloody Palace - where players can earn Red Orbs while trying to clear wave after wave of enemies.
  • Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition
    • Set before the events of the original Devil May Cry, this action classic sees Dante facing off against his twin brother, Vergil, who has designs on unlocking a gate to the demonic realm, to which Dante himself holds the key... Featuring selectable combat styles such as Swordmaster and Gunslinger, Devil May Cry 3 brings an extra level of strategy to the series' renowned stylish gameplay.
    • This edition includes all of the Special Edition content, including the ability to play as Vergil, and even includes extra bonus features exclusive to the Nintendo Switch.

I found this if you have a Switch 2, hopefully it helps:
Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition runs at a locked 60 FPS on the Nintendo Switch 2, maintaining a consistent performance that eliminates the rare frame drops found on the original Switch. Thanks to backward compatibility, it benefits from faster loading times and a more stable resolution, specifically:
Docked: Crisp 1080p resolution.
Handheld: Native 720p with improved visual stability.
The port remains the "definitive" version because it retains Switch-exclusive features like Freestyle Mode (on-the-fly style switching) and local co-op in the Bloody Palace. While it does not include new high-resolution textures, the increased power of the Switch 2 ensures the most fluid experience currently available for the game.

I completed the original DMC1. Its was pretty cool at the time. The first time I fought the large spider boss while connected to a high end sound system was pretty intense lol. I'd play it again I couldnt even figure out DMC2 lol.

If I've never played a game in the series, is it recommended that I start with the original?

Yes, but play 1, 3, 4, and then 2 if you like the series. 2 really doesn't add much to the storyline and it's definitely the weakest game in the series.
