agreed. An analyzer gives more information and you can see what might not be connected correctly!

I've started using synthetic lan cable lubricant, last well over 100 Terabytes before it needs changing.

this is what I use instead of this listed here (99% similar):
https://www.amazon.com/TESMEN-TLP...B0GN84H22V

Note the 5th picture where you must "wear" the network cables in order to operate it according to specifications.

These seems so basic that for home users, why can't we just us a router and a computer with Ethernet port to test?

I also suggest the LAN cables that are lubricant ready, the application tool, and the special connectors that will distribute the lubricant more evenly for better data flow. It will also make your cable last longer.

The cheap random brand testers are okay when they're new, but I've had two start giving false negatives (1 or 2 connections don't light up) and cause me to reterminate cables that weren't bad. I still recommend them when people are only looking for one time use or small projects, but I wouldn't trust them beyond that.

The Klein tester is better build quality and comes with a 2 year warranty and support from a reputable company based in Illinois. Seems fair for $15 more.
