I have this mower and it works better than my craftsman gas mower. My gas mower always left streaks of grass. Anyways, just like any mower, you have to maintain it, which includes the battery. I bought the mower used and also used batteries. For half the cost, it was well worth it. If you have a large yard, then you'll want bigger batteries. The 7.5 was just perfect for my medium lawn. An additional 5.0 for mulching in the fall or longer grass. The only problem I have is when the self propel randomly stops working because the clippings cover the fan, which for safety it shuts off the self propel.
