This 13.6 inch MacBook Air stands out as a strong everyday laptop with 24GB of unified memory and a 512GB SSD, which makes it especially appealing for students, heavy multitasking, and future proofing. The extra RAM is the main draw here, since it cannot be upgraded later and helps with browser tabs, Xcode or Android Studio, virtual machines, and some light local AI work. Costco also adds protection perks and an extra warranty. The main tradeoff is that the newer M5 alternatives offer faster chip features for only a bit more, while this listing has already sold out in some colors.
Common Questions (5)
The M4 24GB is the better pick if you care about memory-heavy work, local AI, VMs, or keeping more browser tabs open because 24GB cannot be upgraded later. The M5 16GB has newer chip features and faster bandwidth, but 16GB can become the limit sooner for multitasking and larger models.
24GB can handle some local models, including roughly 17B parameter models at Q4 for basic work, but the Air is not ideal for sustained local LLM use because heat and throttling become issues. It works better for occasional demos or travel use than for a dedicated AI machine.
Yes, the 24GB/512GB configuration is a strong out-of-the-box student setup and should cover everyday tasks for years. It is also described as overkill for average users, so the extra RAM mainly matters if you expect heavier multitasking or future-proofing.
No, some color options are already gone, and the listing later appears to have sold out. The deal was also reported as dead and about $50 higher than the prior day.
The Costco extra year can add coverage, but AppleCare does not stack as extra years the way older third-party plans sometimes did. AppleCare effectively runs its own 3-year term, so if you want AppleCare, it should be bought with that structure in mind rather than assuming additive coverage.
