You dont have to wait until the end. You can use another person's info in your household and register them as a "new" customer. Once schedule a self-install at the check-out. The device will be delivered to your house. You can decide "instal" date. The internet will cutoff at like 3am in the morning and you can do a self-install right after that in early morning using the app. Just remove the old modem and replace it with new modem. Let is settle down for 5 minutes and continue in app. Takes about 15-30 minutes all in all. I've done this.

Don't shut off your current service. First sign up new service with another person's info (+casback) first. During tje checkout you will select the self install date. That is the date when the old service will be disconnected and new service will be ready to be activated. The modem for the new service will be delivered before the install date. Xfinity will automatically send you an email about cancelation for the current service. The old service will disconnect early morning on the day if "self-install" date. Do not connect the new modem before that (to avoid issues). At the morning of the entire activation process is driven via the app. In this entire process I haven't talked to customer for anything.

Check out their prepaid service "Xfinity Now." $30/month for 100 Mbps, $45/month for 200 Mbps. Free equipment, no bandwidth cap, and no taxes or extra costs (in my state).
You get their old equipment like XB3 gateway. You can set it to bridge mode and use your own router. Last I checked you could not use your own modem. There is no haggling over price every year like you're dealing with a Moroccan bazaar instead of your internet service.
I started with 100 Mbps and it's been perfectly fine speed-wise. I work from home. We don't have any TV service so the 4 of us (including 2 teenagers) are playing games and streaming something constantly.

Family has vacation house in another state and for cox cable they charge $50/month for 300 mbps. Mainly need it for security cameras. If I did more research I would've considered star link. But now locked into 2 year contract with cox. At least it was easy self installation since house has cable ready connections. Also includes cost of their own modem router. Which I ended up using google nest WiFi pro in bridge mode since blink wireless camera have issue connecting directly since it's 2.4 ghz

I just canceled my XfinityNOW for this. I was paying $30/mo for 100 Mbps and old equipment. It was plenty fast for my family's needs. For $10 more a month I get 300 Mbps plus a $100 Amazon GC. Took me 5 minutes to sign up, and 5 more to stop autopay on Xfiniity NOW which will auto cancel for me. In a year I'll just grab whatever new promo they have or swap back to Xfinity NOW.

Used to have Xfinity Platinum but the customer care was worst and had to spend literally 3 hours in a call over internet plan and mobile plan. After that I moved out to T-Mobile. Not much speed but overall the service/customer care is ok.
Now is there any improvement in Xfinity customer care. please share your thoughts

Not everyone has fiber.....here in rural PA, it's cable, T-mobile 5G or Verizon LTE (not 5G), despite Verizon's promise to wire the state with FiOS. Verizon also still offers super slow DSL but they'll probably kill that once they deploy more 5G capacity.

i would cancel the account.
once cancelled, the account still will have signal for 5-7 days.

Yes, I believe it's enabled by default on all their equipment but I've always been able to turn it off. You can usually log in to the router directly (http://10.0.0.1 by default) and disable it there. They keep pushing options to their mobile app. If it's not in the web interface, you can definitely do it in the app and disable it there. I turned off any/all wifi (public hotspot and private/local) and put it in Bridge Mode to use my own mesh network.
I could be wrong, but I think putting it in Bridge Mode would effectively cut off the public hotspot, but I disabled it specifically first.

I also considered that. I use Amazon enough that a GC is as good as cash, so basically just costs $120-100 = $20 and probably 3 hours of my time to get 300Mbps vs 100Mbps. Laziness won the day and I'm sticking with Xfinity Now.
