Horrible deal because Xfinity is absolute trash. I had them for a 2 years and my internet was unreliable. After 10+ service requests (without resolving the issue) I had to switch to att fiber.
Here is my experience. Have Xfinity for 20+ years. For the middle 10 years, Xfinity was very unreliable, but no other choice once DSL ended. 10+ service requests, no resolution. 1/2 the techs lied about what they did. Was paying a lot, $100/mo lousy service. Then 3 years ago, Xfinity decided to upgrade their network in my whole area. Took a few months. All of a sudden, it became rock solid. AT the same time, I got monthly service for $35 a month for 100MBps, then 300MBps. So now, its cheap for solid service. So it really depends on the quality of your neighborhood network. If it is unreliable and hasnt been upgraded, then having another option is best. If you network is rock solid, then getting it cheap is not a bad idea.

edit: BTW, do you notice that you never get an requests for feedback on tech service requests? Their techs know that so some (about half) take advantage of that. On one service call, the tech came in a truck, sat outside my house for an hour in the truck, then left, never bothered to ring the doorbell. Their report was that they inspected the service and found it was working properly. I tried to report him to Xfinity but found there was no ability to leave any feedback on service calls!

These types of deals are probably not for you. Not to be mean, but to play the system, you gotta know the system. You can not keep your mobile line and cancel your service without an entirely separate slick workaround to port in and out

an entirely separate slick workaround to port in and out is exactly what i intend to do.
result==> 2 years of free mobile service

call comcast, tell them you want to cancel, when they transfer you to the cancellation department (retentions) ask for this deal - they will give it to you and you don't have to cancel or use someone else's info or be a new customer or whatever. The regular customer service agents can't - only retentions can.
As an existing customer, I got this deal from the retention dept just like you said.

Did anyone receive a written conformation that a $100 gift card would be mailed to you? If so, how did you do it?

I made the mistake of calling and talking to someone and she said she'd take care of it. I'd get the 5 year gigabit for my current "promotional price". Silly my not only did she not get me that deal. She didn't cancel my old service so now I'm stuck canceling 2 overpriced plans. I hate Xfinity so much but they are the only gigabit solution in my area.
I was similarly screwed by them a couple of years ago... Frown

Does anyone know how to get rid of this mandatory installation charges of $50 while booking it online . I live in PA and can do connections myself . It's not allowing me to book without that ? Please advise

I called retention department and they also gave me 300Mbps deal. They said they would send me $100 GC within 48 hrs. Still nothing.
