well not at all but it's just a better product as far as lasting longer in charge and in lifetime. And it's not like you'd get this kit in non brushless for much cheaper at this price.

Agreed, this is a great entry into ryobi 18v if one is new to it. I was more referring to anyone feeling compelled to upgrade or then keep buying only brushless versions if starting with this
