I'd say sure, as mentioned, it's Costco so you have a fairly good return window and while this is online only you can return to stores.

That said it is Acer, which is known as more of a budget friendly choice, but it's not like it's a no-name brand or anything. Other panels absolutely will be brighter, but that is an issue that largely depends on where your monitor is, i.e. is it next to a window? in really bright room? But even a lower end OLED will probably look better than your average non-professional monitor. All these 1440p QD-OLED panels are the same 3rd gen ones from Samsung anyways, same pixel arrangement, same True Black 400 HDR rating, the largest difference is going to be the stand, the ports on the back, the screen finish, and internal software with the menu system. And more importantly, these are on sale now because the new generation of panels are coming out, so yeah they won't be quite as good as the full priced ones that will be hitting shelves somewhat shortly, but if it's your first OLED you'll probably still be blown away.
And again, it's Costco, if after a couple months you don't really find it's any better what what you got, return it.

These panels are no where near the same quality as their nicer models. The brightness is the big killer with only 200 nits of brightness in SDR and only 400 peak in HDR. Even in a dim room, this monitor is way too dark. Most people think that 250 nits is barely good enough. Its still an OLED with the inky blacks, but you don't get the same pop of color that you see on other oleds. For this price I'd rather have a mini led IPS display, or just save up another $200 for a nicer panel. Even the mid range SKU of this model hits close to 300 nits SDR and has no issues with 1000 nits HDR.

This is one of the new budget qd-oled panels that have been hitting the market. I think its shady that all of the companies releasing them are naming them so closely to their nicer models, probably hoping that you search for "X27U review" and see all the praise. These panels are no where near the same quality as their nicer models. The brightness is the big killer with only 200 nits of brightness in SDR and only 400 peak in HDR. Even in a dim room, this monitor is way too dark. Most people think that 250 nits is barely good enough. Its still an OLED with the inky blacks, but you don't get the same pop of color that you see on other oleds. For this price I'd rather have a mini led IPS display, or just save up another $200 for a nicer panel. Even the mid range SKU of this model hits close to 300 nits SDR and has no issues with 1000 nits HDR.

No argument on their randomly generated password classification, but W1 uses LG's WOLED panel, this W3 uses Samsung's QD-OLED panel, Thats the most massive difference between the two, now how that differs from the A1 variant I dont know, my guess is different schemes so you cant price match against different stores for an already cheap monitor. Or it could be something as simple as being a budget company they get whatever cheap panels they get during any production cycle so for "the same monitor" they will have different variants

Very helpful, thanks. Yeah... I get the price match thing, but if that's the problem, stores need to fix their price match policy. Creating a problem to solve a problem is just stupid lol.

Good shout. I see this confusing naming convention overlap with many brands in my recent hunt for OLED monitors. Lots of similar names with LG and Samsung as well that it's easy to get tricked unless you're copy/pasting the full model code or product SKU #s

This is different than the one i purchaed a few months ago from costco despite technically having the same name. I paid 379 but it's a 280Hz panel vs 240 and iirc the typical brightness was rated higher. Idk offhand what the other listed specs for mine were vs this one, but anything nice i said about that one does not transfer.

I switched to an LG OLED TV as a monitor and couldn't be happier. I don't get spending this much on a monitor these days unless you truly need more than 144hz (you don't).

Bought this and the msi qd in the same bracket. The Msi is built so much better and has nicer features. I actually liked the color on this one a little better but the build quality is concerning. Imo spend a little more and get the msi
