Wouldn't this work better with charcoal for cooking? Hard to see wood doing well that close unless it is camping food.

I can't speak for this particular grill, but for any sous vide people out there I get the absolute best sear over my Solostove. So I'd imagine this would get similar results.

Wood cooks better than charcoal if done right. You burn it hot to create a bed of coals then you cook over those.
