Looks like you do get a prorated discount (and an extra 10% off) if you already 'own' some of the games.

*LOL, a few months ago someone was ranting at me how Steam stopped doing this and I was imaging this was still occurring. Kiddo, are you you reading this?

Forgive me for asking but I'm old enough to have actually played Doom when it was new, and I'm unfamiliar with how Steam works.

When you "buy" a game on Steam are you actually getting a download that you own or do you have to have an active Steam account to access? Is this a one-time purchase and you can play the game whenever you want on whatever PC you want, or is the platform subscription-based and you have to keep paying monthly to access content you supposedly purchased? Or something else entirely?

In other words... how does this work?

Go easy on me - there are no stupid questions, just stupid people. Smilie

You don't have to pay for a monthly Steam subscription. You buy the game, download it, and download the Steam launcher so you can play it. If Steam ever disappears you can't play the game anymore, but that probably won't happen anytime soon. If that worries you get it from GOG since there it's DRM (digital rights management) free.

In other words... there are no stupid answers, just stupid answers.
