Can anyone who has one of these comment on whether this lid seals under its own weight (i.e., without being latched) and how easy it is to latch/unlatch? Especially if one has kids, I think that self-sealing is simple but very important and often overlooked. Even some of the big expensive name brands don't do this. But if it doesn't, it's a deal breaker for me personally. Almost equally important, and even moreso if you have kids, is how easily it can be latched/unlatched. I also don't know why anyone who plans to use a cooler in the sun would get any color other than white, because it makes a huge difference in cold retention. But this seems like a great deal for a quality cooler.

I had this exact cooler, but the brand and the colors were different. But I wouldn't pay more than $80 for it. Ice didn't last as long a rotoformed cooler should. one of the latches broke after light use after 1 year. It was a good day trip cooler but not much else. Id say it's appropriately priced. Best cooler for the money would do to Lifetime IMO.

No it holds open a little in my experience. Latching and unlatching required two hands. I prefer the ones with actual buckle style latches. Id say a 12yo+ would be able to latch it. But not younger. Look at Lifetime brand.
