This is a decent deal if you want the larger screen and no need for cellular. Otherwise Bestbuy has the 11inch with LTE for $499.

The main argument to get the just released M4 version is that you get 50% more RAM (from 8 to 12GB) which should give it quite a bit more longevity.

I went ahead and grabbed a 256gb 13" M4 for $840 from Costco. I don't know if the extra 4gb of RAM and compute power of the M4 is worth the extra $140 but I figured I might as well do it if it extends the usefulness at all.

Do people use the iPad that much anymore? I know the screens are small, but smartphones do so much.

It's still the best media consumption device out there, but much less necessary than a laptop for most. For some there are also unique use cases -- ie I'm a pianist and use it heavily for sheet music.

Ipad mini: ALL THE TIME! Kind of like a smartphone that i can see an entire page and respond with fewer i/o, b/n, e/w errors. Get hard plastic case with stand. And make sure you get off the couch sometimes, cause the mini makes it easy to slouch…so lite.
It also feels like Apple is pushing inventory out the door out-of-cycle. I'm watching Apple site daily for their drops and will load up Amazon cart for price change alerts. Something is happening…bank error in your favor, collect $200…

One common use is for people, I notice especially older folks, who only need basic web browsing and email. Tablets offer bigger screens than phones and much better battery life and lower maintenance than most laptops.
