This Legion Tower 7i Gen 10 is a high end prebuilt that stands out for its RTX 5090, 64GB of DDR5, and 2TB SSD, especially for AI, local inference, and heavy gaming. The fixed configuration is seen as stronger value than comparable HP Omen 45L builds because it bundles more memory and storage for similar money. It also gets praise for solid assembly, quiet operation, cool running, and minimal bloatware. The main cautions are the steep price, occasional checkout totals higher than advertised, and the fact that the 5090 is overkill if you do not need this level of performance.

  • 4K or ultrawide gamers who need a 5090, because a 5080 can struggle to drive high-resolution displays at native settings.

  • Power users replacing a 32GB or 1TB prebuilt, because the extra RAM, storage, and faster CPU make the upgrade feel worthwhile for about $600 more.

  • AI researchers running local inference, because 64GB RAM and a 2TB SSD support large models and avoid paying for rented GPU time.

  • Researchers and workstation users who want a quiet, well-built tower, because it runs cool, stays quiet under light load, and has minimal bloatware.

  • Gamers expecting top-tier frame rates from the 285K, because it can trail AMD chips by 25-30% in gaming workloads.

  • Shoppers who need the advertised 5090 configuration, because the deal may actually ship with a 5080, a lower-tier processor, and an 850W power supply.

  • Buyers who need a quieter gaming tower, because the competing Omen 5090 is reported to be much quieter.

I'm tempted to get this deal so I can upgrade from my 5080 FE. It's not enough for the Neo G9 57".
Dang bro. You arent satisfied with the 5080FE? Send it to me. I am still kicking with my 3060Ti.

When you say "on sale", do you mean about $1000 more expensive than they were 6 months ago?

Buy your 5090 desktop and spend your money how you like, but it seems like plenty of people seem to think that spending $2500-3000 on a 5090 to make AI-generated content for streaming platforms is going to lead to a turn-key business. Here's a hint: that market is already saturated and NO legitimate production company is paying any freelancer for AI-generated content as they all already have their own AI tools to do so. You're buying into a market way too late.

ALL of the above doesn't apply if you're a born businessperson as you can probably turn a profit from anything, but if you already had business-sense you'd have bought into the AI market at least 5 years ago.

I just need a "cheap" pc to do LLM interference for my AI services, for a 35B model, rather than renting a $500/month GPU server

lol I'm on a 4070 that is trying its best for my Samsung OLED 49"
I feel you! Games and monitors are more demanding so it's take a lot of power to run them. I originally upgraded to the 5080 because I wanted to utilize DisplayPort 2.1 for 7680x2160 240HZ with my Samsung Neo G9 57". I was able to get the 5080 FE for MSRP back in January, but I quickly realized it wasn't enough to drive this monitor. I tried and watched multiple drops and the 5090 FE never came back in stock so I decided to jump on this deal. I'm getting the 5090 and my wife is getting the rest of the Lenovo system. So she'll be going from i7-14700F, 32GB RAM , 4070 to 285K, 64GB RAM, and 5080 GPU. She won't have to upgrade for a long time. I hope you're able to upgrade sooner rather than later.

I wanted the GPU so my HP Omen was bone stock the cheaper AMD chip ($400+ to upgrade)

32GB, (should have upgraded since extra 32GB was like $325 after the discount was applied.

1TB - which is too small.

but it was just the gateway drug into a 5090.

I use it so much because it's faster that I am not using the Laptop 5090 as much, I will find a way to utilize them all full time.

I have been looking around the prices, not easy to sell to get my money's worth right now. but this $4100 machine would be the top spec for me but I was thinking about just getting to 128GB so I was checking what the discounted upgrade prices would have been. lol.

I did daytrade $4500 worth of chip stocks yesterday and today...
Damn! You're making moves. I thought about jumping on that HP deal if it ever came back, I'd jump on it. The way things are going, I doubt we'll see a similar deal anytime soon. I've been desperately trying to upgrade from the 5080 so this deal came right on time. I'm hoping I can sell my AM4 rig locally to offset the cost of PC. My wife and I will be getting upgraded components so its a win win for us.

Saw some article saying they plan to increase 5090s to $5k I'm like whaaaaaat lol
I saw that article too. I figured now would be the best time to jump in and upgrade. I only needed the 5090 GPU, but it didn't make sense to me to spend $3,500-$4,000 and only get a GPU. I went ahead and placed my order.

I should've added more context. I'm running my 5080 FE with my Samsung Neo G9 57" Ultrawide. At native resolution, 7860x2160, it's hard to get good framerates. I could drop the resolution down to 4K, but it cuts off 2/3 of the screen so I often have to drop down to 1440p. Games have been great at those resolutions, but I can play that on a 4K display. If I had a 4K or 1440p display, I'd run this card for the next several years. My wife is going to receive the card as an upgrade to her 4070 so it's a win win for both of us. She's also getting the rest of the Lenovo system so she'll be set for years to come. I hope you're able to upgrade from your 3060Ti sooner rather than later.

Sounds good. Supply is constrained. Even 4090 is still expensive and that's what almost 2 years old ?

Ah gotcha. Yeah to do 4K gaming, a 5080 is sufficed but can struggle on some games I guess. Getting a 5090 is big bonus if money isnt an issue, and giving your wife a 5080 is a win win. A happy wife a happy life :-)

I dont do heavy gaming, so a 1080P or 1440P is good for now.

I'm running a fine-tuned version, trained from my cusomter's data, can't seem to find an online sub allow me to do that (running a custom fine tuned model on cloud without high cost), plus it's not a good idea to leak those data to 3rd party vendor

Oh a proper use case. I thnk you are right. Gonna be rental GPU like masscompute or something. Customer's data still quite iffy but wouldn't the cusomter pay for the gear though? nvm I guess you can operate as a service and send them the data back

I used to scoff at DLSS/framegen ... but it's getting so good you can buy something for way less than half the price of this legion and get very similar performance.. or perceived performance at least. Hope people aren't going into debt just to buy a system like this.
