This Legion Tower 7i Gen 10 is a high end prebuilt that stands out for its RTX 5090, 64GB of DDR5, and 2TB SSD, especially for AI, local inference, and heavy gaming. The fixed configuration is seen as stronger value than comparable HP Omen 45L builds because it bundles more memory and storage for similar money. It also gets praise for solid assembly, quiet operation, cool running, and minimal bloatware. The main cautions are the steep price, occasional checkout totals higher than advertised, and the fact that the 5090 is overkill if you do not need this level of performance.

  • 4K or ultrawide gamers who need a 5090, because a 5080 can struggle to drive high-resolution displays at native settings.

  • Power users replacing a 32GB or 1TB prebuilt, because the extra RAM, storage, and faster CPU make the upgrade feel worthwhile for about $600 more.

  • AI researchers running local inference, because 64GB RAM and a 2TB SSD support large models and avoid paying for rented GPU time.

  • Researchers and workstation users who want a quiet, well-built tower, because it runs cool, stays quiet under light load, and has minimal bloatware.

  • Gamers expecting top-tier frame rates from the 285K, because it can trail AMD chips by 25-30% in gaming workloads.

  • Shoppers who need the advertised 5090 configuration, because the deal may actually ship with a 5080, a lower-tier processor, and an 850W power supply.

  • Buyers who need a quieter gaming tower, because the competing Omen 5090 is reported to be much quieter.

Didn't open yet

The delivery box is so much smaller, HP had an extra shell on top of the actual computer box. Legion is just shipped in the box of the computer.

It feels lighter already, I think it is missing the top radiator heat vent that HP has on the OMEN 45L but I didn't open so can't be 100% certain.

Too lazy to set it up tonight, will park it and do a better comparision this weekend.

Got the Legion setup last night and this morning (dual booted it w/Ubuntu). The case is a standard ATX size, but the 5090 takes up a ton of space. The lowest PCI is visible but impractical for another GPU, It would hold a thin card though. The system is very quiet when not under load. There is onboard video from the mainboard allowing me to dedicate the 5090 entirely to GPU tasks like AI which is my primary use case. Surprisingly the bios enables some overclocking. The keyboard and mouse were pretty cheap, but overall no regrets. Sad to spend >$4k, but got a full setup for a little more than the price of the GPU. I suspect this will be the strongest consumer-level GPU for AI inference and training until well into 2027, so might as well buy once, cry once.

Did you set it up yet?
How does it compare to your other rigs?

Didn't you get the hp deal? Looking to add more to the arsenal? Not judging. Just asking. This is 64 GB DDR5-5600MT/s. 45L was 32GB 6000MT/s, also it had upgrade option to 64GB 6000MT/S.
400 MT isn't much of a difference ..

10 micro sec or picosec

No one knows - for all we know, the AI wave could recede any day now. And when it does, the prices of all these things will drop.

Glad to hear no issues with Ubuntu! Any idea what the PSU is? Still waiting for mine to ship

Order on 5/21 order status has been in progress waiting to be shipped since then and its pushed my estimated delivery date from 5/27 to 6/1 with expedited delivery. Also if this ever ships make sure you have someone at home to sign for it cause they will return it back to sender, I couldn't even make them hold my package at the UPS store either.

Using mine for research with 0 gaming, would have preferred something beefier with more cores and ECC ram but in this market I am very happy! Runs cool, good assembly, has the typical bloatware. Shrank the windows partition and installed linux and everything runs as it should. For gaming the 285k absolutely falls behind AMD by 25-30% fps but for my workloads the 285k actually comes out on top in a lot of tasks.
