Certified moron here. Bought this thing at $350, then sold some Intel stock at the same time because my genius brain thought
"Well, if I'm giving Intel $350 for a CPU, I should at least make some money back by selling the stock."
Now the CPU tanks and the stock immediately moons right after I sell. Elite timing on both fronts.😃

You get 285K but better for gaming for half the price. Insane on top of that the boards are pretty cheap too in comparison. Is it better than the 600 Dollar MC deal bundle? Not if you need the ram. If you just need the cpu this is great.

If they can sell this at $279 why wasn't this at the $300 retail price it was supposed to be from the start? Amazon was initially selling this for $350 when the retail price was supposed to be $300. Probably not selling many now after the first wave of buyers because ram prices are so high.

Dead platform I'll consider around $200 or some crazy bundle deal

For real. At least on AM5, AMD allows to update cpus without also buying a new MB. Of course, AMD inflates their cpu prices so high that it would be cheaper to buy a new socket Intel CPU + MB than to upgrade the AM5 CPU 😂 Gotta love that AMD tax.. all in the name of "upgradability"

If this is for a strictly high end gaming computer, the 9800x3d smokes any Intel, especially with 5080 or higher where the GPU is not the bottleneck.

What's the best value motherboard?
I have 4 sticks of 16gb ddr5 ram. Is it good for this CPU?
What I mean running this on quad channel?

Excellent price and performance. So nice to see the price point of their high-end cpu drop so low. Thx!

Yeah, but if you are building a PC right now, first of all, God bless you. Second of all you can wait a bit and watch prices drop even further over the next couple months. Guarantee this will be cheaper in a month or two. With the memory and GPU price increases, the bottom has completely fallen out of the PC building market. Most component suppliers like motherboard manufacturers are already reporting a 25% decrease in sales with projections it will get worse.

So expect prices to drop further on CPUs, PSUs, motherboards and other non memory related components.

When someone opens a statement saying: "I'm an engineer", "I'm a doctor", "I have a PhD in...", I immediately raise a red flag and completely disregard them. But when they say: "Certified moron here", they immediately get my attention and credit they deserve.
