These 3M Filtrete filters are great...have been using them for years. And Costco usually has the best price for a pair that is a year's supply for those of us who change our filters twice a year. The regular price at Costco for a pair is $44 or $22 per filter...already a great deal compared to big box hardware stores selling the same filter for $45-50 per filter...but at the current sale price for a pair at $34 or $17 per filter, it's an even better deal. I've picked up a pair for myself so I can change the filter for our hot summer season and switch again in late fall for winter.

And if your HVAC system requires a different size 4" filter, Costco also has other 4" 3M Filtrete filters at this same sale price including 16 x 20 x 4, 20 x 25 x 4, and 20 x 20 x 4.

FYI, these are on the smaller side of the advertised sizing. I bought these 3M filters in 16x25x4 and they did not fit in my system.

I normally use Honeywell brand filters which advertise an actual size of 15.88" x 24.88" x 4.38". These 3M filters have an actual size of 15.44 x 24.63 x 4.31".

I noticed this too, but it's not a deal breaker. This slightly smaller filter should perform okay in the housing as is, but they might have a tilt with the extra space. Alternatively, you can insert a small spacer below the filter to create a snug fit.

There are currently two versions of this Filtrete 16 x 25 x 4 filter....the regular size that I normally use (15.88 in x 24.56 in x 4.31 in) and a "slim" version (15.5 x 24.5 x 3.75) that I got one time by mistake and was way too small for my HVAC unit.

I bought this and the Honeywell version from HD and found these to be a better fit. The Honeywells from HD were the right size but I ended up having to crumple to filter a bit to make the filter fit. These Filtrete filters from Costco seem to slide in without having to adjust.

Also I tried going cheap one time by putting two 1" filters in and regretted my decision. The house for whatever reason became very humid. All to say, the 4" Filtrete filters from Costco is a winner
