"it's an end user problem" --> Or, hear me out, they're all made to the same low standards since they're originally designed around a 2 year "contract refresh". These companies didn't become filthy rich by making devices which endure.
In my experience, "flagship" android phones pre-2018 (last android in the family) were unreliable trash, predominantly from crappy software coding.

Apple doesn't let carriers manage the operating system, firmware updates or patches, and that's a great thing.

While the iPhone 6s did have a genuine battery failure problem (affected one of ours) which apple eventually owned up to, other iPhone 6s models which got down-cycled to great grandparents were still working in 2022-2023, even on original batteries, until they got different replacement down-cycled iphones.

iPhones definitely last much longer than 2-3 years. That is unles you're dropping them often, leaving them in 120 degree cars in the summer, jumping into rivers with them, etc.

I've never had one of these verizon free phone promos go smoothly. Constant billing errors for the credits and need to spend hours on the phone multiple times.

Even if that's the case (which it isn't)...let's do the math.

Cheapest non-budget flagship "I"-phone is $800. Let's assume you get 6 years out of it. Let's also assume you don't need to perform any battery replacements (at $119 per pop, today's pricing, which has increased a few times over the last several years).

My last several budget/mid-tier Android phones averaged $50 each. I get 2-3 years out of each, so let's go to the extreme and "only" get 2 years of usage.

The math: for six years, that's $800 with Apple versus $150 with the lower-end options. $650 stays in my pocket.

-------

Plus, I can swap out units if I don't like them/give me trouble/etc. I'm not "stuck". And by the end of the six years, I have three handhelds to my name -- aka "spares" in case something does happen to one (can't predict theft, etc). It's a zero-cost insurance plan.

Speaking of insurance: Apple's Care costs $19.99.... per month. And you have to pay $69 for damage or $119 for a full device replacement ON TOP of that monthly fee.

With budget Tracfone plans, I could literally put an entire second device into active service AND STILL BE CHEAPER than filing a replacement claim with Apple's Care. And I could put even more devices into service... several times over... for just the difference in the cost of the handheld.

I BEG you to read this:

1. This plan's data is deprioritized

2. The average speeds on this plan is 25-40mbs. You are not getting full 5G or LTE speeds. This is a terrible data plan unless you have specific needs that can deal with severely throttled speeds
Right, it's "something to the effect of 5G". If you want 5GUW, you'd have to upgrade.

That's what my speeds are with US Cellular all the time and I have no issues doing anything, even streaming.

Right, received 3 iphone 17 Pro 512gb and a 256gb with unlimited welcome plan. Total 144-145/month after all tax/fee in NYC area. Pretty sure similar deal will be back.
So you trade in any latest phone to get 3 iphone 17 pro 512?

No trade in required at that time. I'm just paying additional $5/mo for each 17pro that upgraded from 256gb to 512gb, otherwise the total monthly bill should be around $125-130($25/line/month plus surcharges/taxes/fee).

Don't worry, such deals usually published several times each year, pretty sure it's gonna back with similar offer.
