The Xbox Series X is still valued for strong backward compatibility, Play Anywhere support, and the convenience of cloud saves across Xbox and PC. It also pairs well with a decent PC through the Xbox app, and some prefer it over other consoles for more consumer friendly features. The main knocks are price and timing, with this $546 deal called expensive compared with past purchases and cheaper promos. There is also hesitation around waiting for Project Helix or Black Friday, and concern about the long term reliability of a used disc drive.
Common Questions (4)
Only if your current console is holding you back. If it already plays everything you want, waiting for Project Helix or Black Friday is the safer move.
Several comments peg it as overpriced compared with past buys, including brand-new units around $350 with a game and another at $430 shipped on sale. The current price is hard to justify if you are only buying for one game.
Yes. A decent PC with the Xbox app can cover the same ecosystem, and it can even be used with LG OLED TVs, making the Series X unnecessary for some buyers.
The 1TB model helps, but the 512GB version is often paired with a USB3 HDD or SSD for legacy games, while Series games can be moved back and forth as needed. That makes external storage a practical workaround until expansion cards get cheaper.
