The Xbox Series X is still valued for strong backward compatibility, Play Anywhere support, and the convenience of cloud saves across Xbox and PC. It also pairs well with a decent PC through the Xbox app, and some prefer it over other consoles for more consumer friendly features. The main knocks are price and timing, with this $546 deal called expensive compared with past purchases and cheaper promos. There is also hesitation around waiting for Project Helix or Black Friday, and concern about the long term reliability of a used disc drive.
The Xbox ecosystem can support Play Anywhere and standard cloud saves, which helps with cross-device convenience.
Back-compat on Xbox can be a practical advantage for players who want older games to keep working.
A spare USB3 HDD or SSD can be used for legacy games, which can reduce storage pressure on a smaller internal drive.
Executable Xbox Series games can be moved between external storage and the console as needed, which can help manage limited space.
The deal price can feel overpriced compared with past purchases that included a game bundle or employee discounts.
Hard drive swapping can be difficult and not user-friendly, which can make upgrades or maintenance frustrating.
Stock availability can be a problem, since Xbox deals may not be in stock anywhere when buyers try to purchase.
A four-year-old disc drive may face longevity concerns due to possible dirt, dust, or pet hair buildup.
