Not UL certified. It is CSA certified, which is odd that they didn't also obtain the UL cert. Do what you want with that, but I'm not personally buying anything that can carry this much juice without the UL.

If it's a true CSA auth and not counterfeit you should have zero hesitation. CSA and UL test to the same exact standard and the difference is pricing for the mark. If you can get an authentic CSA product you're golden.

"50A hardwire should be installed on a circuit breaker rated at 70A or greater"
The issue is that the National Electrical Code (NEC) requires that a continuous load should not exceed 80% of the rating of electrical equipment. This means that a NEMA 14-50 receptacle with a 50A breaker and 8GA THHN is fine for a 50A intermittent load like a welder but is only is good for a continuous load of 40A. The NEC defines a continuous load as any electrical draw expected to run continuously for 3 hours or longer. Examples include EV chargers, pool pumps, and electric space heaters.

Looks like a great deal. Anyone have experience with this specific EVSE?
edit: Looks like only the hard-wired version is on sale. Coupon doesn't work on NEMA 14-50 version.

edit2: Searched some more and found the State of Charge review for this exact model. Looks like the 50 Amp version does come with both hardwire and NEMA plug although it is not mentioned anywhere in the listing. It has to be derated if NEMA plug is being used.

The housing on this thing is so bulky. I'd love to add an external charger outside of the garage, but this thing is huge and ugly.

Bulky for indoor too, but I think it's a good price for the capabilities.

I wouldn't trust the "cloud app" to work for more than a few years. These things need to work on a LAN.

How smart is this? Can you buy 2 for 2 cars and plug them both in and they manage to charge one and then the other or alternate them in a smart way?

There is a plug adapter that allows you to plug in 2 chargers and they will regulate current based on usage. If one is not charging the other will send full current.

I think 25ft is max per code, that's why most are 25 footers. It has been a while since I took a look at that though so I may wrong, but I semi-recall that fact.
