BUT, I've only had them for a couple days and I haven't had to replace the batteries yet. I can definitely see how changing them could get old.
They open when I use my TV's IR remote control, which is somewhat amuzing so far, but might get annoying eventually.
I like that it's the right size for grocery bags. I'm not using the ring, which does seem to be a pain in the ass, but am pinching the bag between the pail and the top part. It seems to work perfectly (but I know some people won't appreciate how that looks).
Overall, for ~$13 per trash can, I like 'em.
