Don't forget to weigh value versus a dozen other brands. The MSRP is just marketing. All-Clad was legacy cookware at one point but now with so many different lines of products you need to be a little more selective. The D5, copper, and graphite lines are still nice, the D3 ... has little distinction in the market and at $100 for this listing, is not a standout. I have the 15" oval roaster in D3 and its nice and I'm very happy with it but that one routinely goes on sale at Macy's for $50 (or less) brand new with potholders in a kit.

I used to own exclusively All-Clad cookware with the exception of my cast iron Dutch ovens and single frying pan. I still have some D3 items left as they are good enough and heat up exceptionally fast. Including four of the 15" oval roasters, they were $39 last November at Macy's so I bought 2 more. My D5 cookware has all been gifted away as well as my non essential D3 pieces. Replaced with a combination of 2 Demeyere Atlantis Proline 7-ply frying pans (bought used from a regionally famous chef that was being paid to use different cookware), a 10 pc Viking 7-ply titanium cookware set (bought NIB from a couple who don't cook at home as they are both chefs and received them as a wedding gift), Mauviel M'Cook 5-Ply assorted cookware (bought off craigslist as a complete set with one damaged piece) and two identical 3-ply 24qt stock pots from Kitchen Craft that were the only ones I could find that were the right capacity without being to tall to comfortably use on my rear burners. After using better cookware, I still consider All-Clad to be very good, but overpriced. For anyone looking for a clad stainless steel frying pan for searing, the Demeyere Atlantis Proline 7-ply is amazing. Incredible heat distribution across the entire cooking surface and the welded handles are incredible. Takes longer to heat up than any of my other cookware with the exception of my cast iron. I can't justify buying a complete set of Demeyere cookware, but I wish I could, superior in every way. The Viking titanium cookware is great, and it matches my range. The titanium cooking surface really is nice to work with especially for sauces. Similar time to heat up to other 7-ply cookware but no better heat distribution than my Mauviel 5-ply set. There is a reason why Mauviel is the best selling brand of cookware in the world. Their 5-ply is superior to All-Clad's D5 and frequently are less expensive when buying by the piece, my replacement piece was by 10%. I have also used Tramontina 3-ply, Misen 3-ply and 5-ply cookware extensively and would not hesitate to purchase them instead of All-Clads D3 line. I do part time catering and work as a chef at a Co-Op kitchen on Saturdays for Dinner service only. During those 12-20 hours a week I use the heck out of all of the cookware I have mentioned. Cooking on LP, NG, electric and Induction cooktops regularly, leads me to believe that even at factory seconds pricing All-Clad is overpriced for what it is, when compared to what is offered by others.
