I was in Japan last June and with the high humidity and heat, this would've been great. These were cheaper to buy in store in Japan

Good to know it's cheaper in Japan... was going to buy for my son's trip there this summer... but guess he can just buy one when he gets there. I have something like this but it's really loud.

Super cheap. But just know there's no cooling plate like the shark chill pill, even though the photos make it look like there is.

Be careful as these might have been some of the older, less efficient models. With the higher humidity you'll encounter in the SEA, you'll want the one with the most output. If noise is a consideration, then go for the more expensive, larger Diveblue model:

I would be careful about the cheap $4 fans you are being advised to buy off the streets of Japan. It's possible that they are like the cheap fans you can buy now (providing you purchase in large quantities of 30-60) which are inadequate to provide the relief you are seeking from the extreme humidity you will encounter in the SEA.
