Good drill, great price. There isn't a ton of it, but I love dewalt's 12v stuff.

I bought some of the impacts last month when they were this price with a free 3ah battery.

I can't remember the last time I used a drill but if you like drilling stuff this is a decent piece cause it is small and light, and if you don't have milwaukie one yeah.

personally I really like dewalt 12v stuff. it is a shame that 20vhs won and I have betamax tools.

ive been waiting and waiting for ryobi to have a sale on their 18v compact brushless drill but tired of waiting.

The cordless tool manufacturers are playing the public. Silly War, which tools have the highest voltage, when, in a lot of senses, it's the amperage that counts. 12 volts was enough to start your car, but Noooo, not enough!
So instead of 12 volt tools we went to 18 volts and now it's 20 volts, seems to me I've seen some that claim to be using a 40 volt battery, and I think I've seen some lawn mowers with twin (?) 60 volt batteries. Where will it stop? When the buyers get wise.

This is the DeWalt extreme page, did you meant to post this in the Milwaukee thread? This one has 2 speeds and reaches 1,500 RPM, so I would get this one if you're planning on using it for automotive work, they're very similar in size too.

Got this last time it was on sale.

Plenty of power for your home-improvement projects; love the bag and spare battery

What people miss here:
  • Its a dead battery platform, Dewalt isn't developing new tools
  • Unlike Milwaukee / Bosch, there's no size advantage for Dewalt 12V over Dewalt or any other 20V platform
  • It's a pretty limited platform especially compared to Milwaukee 12v, and there are no "must have" tools in the line
$80 buys a basic brushless drill starter kit in a lot of other battery platforms that don't have the limitations that Dealt 12V does. You buy drill kits for the battery and charger, unless you're knee deep in D12 already this deal makes no sense.
