Non brushless version is not a good tool. The blade retaining screw backs itself out while being used. Brushless version has a lever.

Agreed. The tool itself (which I have) is just fine, but it's really annoying to keep checking to make sure the retaining screw hasn't loosened itself after every 5 mins of use

Reading the reviews on the Brushless tool, there are a lot of complaints about the switch failing in some cases, on multiple new units (replaced after the first one failed). I need one of these for a grout removal job, but an not sure whether to go for the brushed or brushless based on the comments. Im a DIY'er and done need a pro level which is whaty I use Ryobi tools.

This is one of the few Ryobi 18V One tools I DON'T have yet. While I'm not in any big hurry to go out and replace all my regular ones with "brushless" ones, the convenience of a lever sounds like it makes it worth waiting for the next sale on the brushless version. Thanks!

Tool only should still be on sale. I got it for $99 a couple weeks ago.

Half of the time I can't turn it or turn it off. I have to remove the battery.
