So I have a small SUV and am thinking of buying this, directly wiring it to the battery during a power outage, and using it to charge up a power station during an emergency. I'm able to tell the power station to cap at a certain power profile, probably 500W.

Would that work with this product? Thanks in advance.

What are you trying to power with the power station? Converting from DC to AC and then back to DC is not very efficient. There are likely better ways to accomplish your goals.

the real question is, why isnt the power station chargeable with DC (it probably is)

same question. DC to DC converters on amazon looks flimsy. I looked up a 12v to 60v DC to DC converter on Amazon. For example, the anker solix 3000 has the following inputs:

INPUT
AC Input (AC Charging Cable)
120V~ 15A Max (< 3 Hr), 1800W Max, 12A (Continuous), 60Hz, L+N+PE
AC Input (Bi-Directional Inlet box)
120 V~15 A Max, 1800W Max, 60Hz (< 3 Hr when current exceeds 12A), L+N+PE
AC Input (TT-30 Charging Cable + EV Charging Adapter)
120V~ 30A Max (< 3 Hr), 3600W Max, 24A (Continuous), 60Hz, L+N+PE
AC Input (EV Charging Adapter, only for Type 1 connector, SAE J1772)
240V~ 15A Max, 3600W Max, 60Hz, L+N+PE
High-PV Input
11-165V⎓17A Max, 1,600W
Low-PV Input
11-60V⎓17A Max, 800W
DC Input Port
60V⎓120A Max

Anker power station during a snow storm or hurricane. I can set the power station to draw anything from 100W to 1600W. Basically 'fill up' my 2kwh bank to power my fridge for another day or two in a pinch.

Even if there was a 100 USD gas generator to buy, I have no other reason to keep gasoline about other than my car. Fine with it being a bit inefficient, only to be used in 'oh shit' scenarios; a.k.a. snow is too thick to dig out and find an outlet to top up on.

Edit: Leaving the car on idle to charge through DC at 100W is probably worse than the hit I would take from DC to AC back to DC.

You would have to run the car regardless. You would not be able to draw very much power from your car battery with the vehicle off. Essentially you are trying to use your vehicle as a very inefficient generator.

Yeah, that was what I was saying: do I buy this and draw 500W to 700W or whatever my car can handle at idle rather than draw 100W at idle via the DC charger.

I'd go for the former if I can handle it - I know its a very inefficient generator but in an 'oh shit' situation where I can't get out of my driveway for 4 days it's better than nothing.
