My old dual hose Whynter is still going strong after 8 years. I was running it yesterday. I bought another dual hose a/c that I think is better though. It's a Midea. Bought it on sale at Costco.

Not saying this is a bad price but not as great as it looks because it's only "6,345 BTU SACC"

Very, but works well in a pinch. I've slept next to one a few times. While definitely not a healthy amount of noise, I didn't find myself waking up.
most of the noise seems to be from the extremely loud fan. The newer Midea branded units seem to have a much quieter fan.

Single hose would be self evaporating but with the two hose one exhaust carries all the moisture out as well as the hot air
