This is a large 48V LiFePO4 battery that stands out for capacity per dollar and off grid backup use. The comments point to easy pairing with an inverter or hybrid inverter for whole home backup, solar charging, or running essentials, and some setups use it with a 240V inverter for EV charging. The main catches are that it is a DC battery, so it needs extra hardware like an inverter, transfer switch, or panel work, and the UL listing and inspection status are questioned. Efficiency and safety concerns also come up, especially around charging losses and fire or insurance implications.

Common Questions (5)

  • The battery itself is reported as not UL listed, while ECO-WORTHY's server-rack batteries are the ones described as UL listed. That matters because non-UL batteries may create inspection, insurance, and grid-connection problems.

  • Yes. It is a DC battery, so you need an inverter to convert it to AC for household loads, and an inverter/charger or hybrid inverter if you want it to charge from solar or the grid. For whole-home backup, it can be paired with a critical-loads panel and transfer switch.

  • A 5kW inverter is suggested for lighter loads and a gas furnace, but a 10kW unit may be needed for central AC. The practical check is your AC breaker: 20A loads may fit a 5kW inverter, while 40A loads likely need more headroom.

  • Yes. It can run an off-grid zone, power essentials through an inverter, or serve as backup for loads like a Tesla charger when paired with the right inverter. It is also described as useful for emergency backup and daily cycling when utility buyback rates are low.

  • It can be set up similarly only if you add the missing pieces: an inverter with an automatic transfer switch, plus panel-level installation. The battery itself is only the storage component; Powerwall combines the battery, charge controller, inverter, and backup gateway in one unit.

Review nfpa 855. Really depends on configuration, but I wouldn't recommend it. Lfp is distinct from li ion, but... Your inspector may not care.

Just bought one for $1650+tax. Truck delivery took about 10 days door to door. I use it as a backup battery to "solar" charge my Jackery E2000v2 and Pecron F3000LFP with 2x EP3800 and noticed that judging by the BMS of each system that I needed about 5300 Wh to replenish about 2600 Wh on the power stations. Seems rather inefficient. Anyway, I'll keep an eye on it on future uses. If it keeps being inefficient as a "solar" input, I may just get an inverter for this battery and use it as a stand alone power station.
A lfp battery with bms should be pretty efficient - if you are seeing this kind of loss I'd recommend looking for hot components (or a measurement error). Thousands of watt hours generates a ton of heat.

since this is UL listed cant this be installed similar to a power wall where it automatically switches to power during peak hours?
Where does it say UL listed

I currently run 5 of them daily with an EG4 Flexboss18 inverter. The batteries are not UL listed though so they wouldn't pass an inspection.

Its not UL listed. If you want to use it like you are asking then you will need an inverter also. https://slickdeals.net/f/19540371

The UL listing just means this has been tested to conform to safety standards for battery storage, it's not directly comparable to a powerwall. A powerwall is a combination of a battery, solar charge controller, an inverter, and a backup gateway in one package.

You can make this work the same way by getting an inverter with an automatic transfer switch and combine it with this battery, then have it installed at your panel.
yes i am aware of that it still needs the inverter.
ok so there are automatic transfer switches that can be used to fulfill the purpose i mention?

You could plug this thing directly into your f3000 LFP with a DIY adapter. Basically, it just expands the power of the Pecron like an expansion battery should. It would be charged via the Pecron through solar or AC.

There are automatic transfer switches, yes. Some inverters have them built in.

Looks like only their server rack batteries are UL listed and not these (if so, there is no reason for them not to advertise it in their listing).

Some homeowner insurance policies will void the coverage for using non UL listed batteries and I was told this cannot be tied to the grid if not UL Listed
