The P1 worked very well when I had my smoker and BBQ on my back patio. However a remodel/addition required me to relocate them to another location on the opposite side of our house from the kitchen. The P1 worked okay most of the time but occassionally lost communication with the probe.
That prompted the upgrade to G1 and I've never looked back. Communication is always locked in...even when I take the base station with me to the kitchen.
Community Reviews
ThermoMaven G1 is a wireless meat thermometer that stands out for strong connectivity, especially when the base stays nearby or when Wi Fi matters for checking cooks from away from the house. The probe gets praise for solid build quality, useful ambient and internal temperature sensing, and good performance on rotisserie and other cooks. The 2 pack includes two probes, and the code has worked after switching to the ThermoMaven US seller listing. A few notes point to charging quirks and at least one probe reading issue, so it looks best for cooks who value remote monitoring and can tolerate some setup fuss.
The G1 can maintain locked-in communication with the base even after relocating it across the house.
The thermometer supports remote monitoring through Wi‑Fi, while Bluetooth works best only when staying nearby.
The probe setup includes an ambient external sensor plus five internal temperature points on one probe.
The deal includes a 2-pack with two probes for multi-sensor cooking.
The promo code may fail unless the purchase switches to the $59.99 listing sold by ThermoMaven-US.
The probe can have a recurring charging issue that requires slow rotation to find a charging spot.
The probe may give inaccurate readings, such as reporting 98.6°F on a rump roast.
The base-to-probe connection may require using the app when the base is not kept relatively nearby.

They both have conflicting ambient temperature information in their descriptions/pics. Manuals seem to suggest Typhur has a higher ambient max temp at a lower suggested price.
