Decent doorbell camera, but don't underestimate the difficulty of running ethernet to your front door. Learned that the hard way! 😆

Aw man I was hoping the coupon would work for POE switch but it doesn't. Waiting for better price to buy it.

I've had this one for a few years and it's been rock solid. And yes I also had to run ethernet to my front door and it was well worth the effort. A lot of work though even though I thought based on my layout it should be pretty easy. But there's always the unexpected that shows up...

This is why I just kept my wireless doorbell camera and just added a bullet camera in the corner. I wish I had the foresight to leave cat6 in the walls when I was insulating them a few years ago.

Trick is to learn how to patch it so it's easier to fish!

FYI the black version has a wider view and the white one has more vertical view so you can see packages a bit better. Check out the comparisons on youtube.

POE doorbell cameras were not that common back in 2022. I ran 40+ drops when my house was getting framed but totally didn't even think about the doorbell. I just ran a simple 2 wire and bought a wifi version.

Agreed. Hardest part of the project but worth it.

Depending how your existing two-wire power for a traditional doorbell is landed, pulling CAT6e shouldn't be that difficult (I in fact used my two-wire to fish the CAT6e though). This is a fantastic doorbell and records directly to my Reolink NVR and has its own special controls in the Reolink app. I hope they bring out an updated one with better resolution and AI package recognition soon.

Any ports I should block, or anything to restrict on the router for this connection? I mean it's literally providing a connection to your router to anyone outside your home if they pull this off.

I think you'd need at least a smart switch to lock down the port to the MAC address of the device but even then there's still a vector where MAC addresses can be spoofed. You'd have to lock to MAC and then go a step further and only allow certain traffic on your gateway from that MAC. That's all doable but a headache I'd rather not have...
If this is an actual concern then you're way better off with a wireless device. If you're concerned about the noise then you can likely get a dedicated access point and figure a channel to work with the device.

"The white version, with a 3:4 aspect ratio"

"the black version, with a 4:3 aspect ratio"

They do mention it, but you have to be able to understand what is written, which I would guess not everyone can do. Nub1 wrote it in a much more simplified way than Reolink did.
