note that the bone conduction on the 2's are disabled by default and you have to turn them to classic mode.
edit: I'm somewhat incorrect that default uses both bone conduction and speakers.
The people in the referenced reddit thread say they can't hear them with their fingers in their ears. I find this very strange, as I can. Also, sometimes I wear mine with earplugs when I am in a noisy environment, and I can hear them fine.

Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 is an open ear sports headset that stands out for better sound than the first OpenRun Pro, with dual drivers, a little more comfort, and USB C charging instead of the older magnetic cord. The bone conduction and speaker setup can be switched into classic mode, and the audio stays audible even with fingers in the ears or earplugs in. The main cautions are that it can still feel too quiet in very loud settings, battery life and sweat resistance are not as strong as the OpenRun, and some heads find the fit too large. It is a strong upgrade if sound and charging convenience matter most.
Common Questions (5)
No. Bone conduction is off by default in classic mode, and the headset uses a hybrid setup by default; switching to classic mode changes the sound profile and increases vibration for bass.
Yes. The OpenRun Pro 2 uses a native USB-C charging port, while the earlier Pro v1 uses a proprietary magnetic charging cord. That makes the v2 easier to charge and avoids replacing lost or worn cables.
The Pro 2 is reported to sound about 5-10% better and to have significantly better music fidelity than the Pro 1. It can still feel too quiet in very loud environments, though, and some users wish it were louder.
They handle normal workouts well, but they are reported to be less water- and sweat-resistant than the OpenRun, and one pair failed after a sauna and hydro-massage session. Wiping them down after heavy sweat exposure appears to help.
Yes, they can for some people. The vibrations may stimulate the inner ear enough to trigger vertigo or dizziness, making them unusable for users who are sensitive to that effect.

These two models are not the same. The OpenRun/Aeropex is good, but it's different from the gen 1 Open Run Pro.

Pro 2s are definitely worth it over it the base model, Pro's v1 are not so if you want to save money get the base model
The biggest difference is that version 1 uses a proprietary charging cord that has magnetic mounting while version 2 has a universal C charging port.
I use both but I've had to buy two extra cords via ebay for version 1 since I've misplaced and then find later the proprietary cord.
Both are far more comfortable for me to exercise with and use daily than earbuds and this is the only thing I will go on runs with. Hope this helps.
He's the pair I got. https://a.co/d/0crHOjXm
