Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 is an open ear sports headset that stands out for better sound than the first OpenRun Pro, with dual drivers, a little more comfort, and USB C charging instead of the older magnetic cord. The bone conduction and speaker setup can be switched into classic mode, and the audio stays audible even with fingers in the ears or earplugs in. The main cautions are that it can still feel too quiet in very loud settings, battery life and sweat resistance are not as strong as the OpenRun, and some heads find the fit too large. It is a strong upgrade if sound and charging convenience matter most.

I chose the version 2 because it has better sound quality provided by dual drivers, and also it uses a standard USB-C connector, instead of a proprietary magnetic connector.

The people in the referenced reddit thread say they can't hear them with their fingers in their ears. I find this very strange, as I can. Also, sometimes I wear mine with earplugs when I am in a noisy environment, and I can hear them fine.
Eragorn above posits an explanation for the finger in ears problem. Bone Conduction might be off by default.. i'll have to check mine later.

I own these and can confirm that the bone conduction (classic mode) is off by default.

Costco has the OpenRun (not Pro, same as old Aeropex) for $79. Best Buy and Sam's have the OpenRun Pro (1) for $99.

These two models are not the same. The OpenRun/Aeropex is good, but it's different from the gen 1 Open Run Pro.

I 100x prefer the 2's and got two pairs (car and home
note that the bone conduction on the 2's are disabled by default and you have to turn them to classic mode.
This is not true, by default they are using bone conduction and a speaker for base. Switching to classic mode disables the speaker and switches to having more vibration for base. I have tested this.

Pro 2s are definitely worth it over it the base model, Pro's v1 are not so if you want to save money get the base model

These are great, and I think a lot of people hit the reasons why. However, I want to add a caveat. For some people (like me), these can cause vertigo. The vibrations can stimulate some structure responsible for balance within the inner ear and cause it. I wish I could use them, but I'd rather not feel dizzy once I take them off.

I have 2 pairs of Open Run Pro 2 (both MINIS) - they are both still too big for my head and I have to push them onto back strap of baseball hat. Why are they so big?

I've now had this for over a year, and have version 1 for two years. You get about 5-10% better sound from version 2, I think version 2 is little bit more comfortable, version 1 has more rounded speakers that sort of press against your head while version 2 has more flat speakers but both are very comfortable.
The biggest difference is that version 1 uses a proprietary charging cord that has magnetic mounting while version 2 has a universal C charging port.
I use both but I've had to buy two extra cords via ebay for version 1 since I've misplaced and then find later the proprietary cord.
Both are far more comfortable for me to exercise with and use daily than earbuds and this is the only thing I will go on runs with. Hope this helps.

I bought a $15 pair on Amazon. They work but I don't have another pair to compare them to... Kinda wondering what I'm missing compared to the more expensive options. Sound is ok but I'm not an audiophile and mostly listen to podcasts with them.

He's the pair I got. https://a.co/d/0crHOjXm

Supposedly there's a ton of fake bone conductive headsets the test is to cover your ears and see if the sound stays the same because the sound should come from inside your head instead of from the ears. You could do that test for me that would be wonderful.

Tested it out and they sound louder with fingers in ears.
