One year later with the heat pump version, and I'd say it has already paid for itself in electricity and gas savings for cooling only the bedroom at night and then covering the fall and now the spring shoulder season: heating until a few days ago, and cooling as of two days ago.
One quirk is that the auto setting is messed up, and it seems to only pick up weather at a different location. I learned not to keep it on auto but either on cool or on heat.
An upgrade I would recommend is a $40-ish drain water pump, it sits on the floor and when full dumps the water through a hose that empties on the roof through a tiny hole in a window seal. No more need to empty a can or bucket when full.

This restored Midea Duo portable air conditioner stands out for efficient bedroom cooling, quiet inverter operation, and a dual hose style that is more effective than single hose units. Several deliveries looked new or nearly new, and some arrived with all accessories and worked well right away. The main drawback is quality control, with reports of missing adapters, remotes, and other parts, plus occasional rattling, error codes, or damaged units. Support and returns have been easy in some cases, but not all. A solid option if you are willing to gamble on condition and completeness.

Before I posted, I did go through the first page of google results with no success but did so on my phone. I switched over to my laptop and posted my comment about 2/3 of the units having issues and then searched again and the AI answer actually provided the above link.
I was missing the exhaust ring and the plastic cap that goes over the lower drain plug.
Midea's customer service chat said to return it, but contacting the seller through walmart's marketplace seems to be getting those parts shipped to me (haven't arrived, so I won't 100% say it worked yet)
So I recommend contacting the seller through walmart's marketplace.
