Amazon points are worth 1:1 when redeeming for statement credit (essentially $0.01 per point)
Whereas the AmEx Platinum's points are only worth $0.006 per point when redeeming points for statement credit.
So for statement credit, this promotion is only marginally better than your Amazon CC (not quite the 10% back…only about 5.4 pts per dollar when the point conversion rate is taken into consideration).
However, if you're redeeming for flights, hotels, or giftcards….then yes the AmEx points would be advantageous.

Yes, I did three separate $40 reloads. Did the first, confirmed the points and then did two more.

I acknowledged the travel bit at the end of the statements.
