IMO though, I would have preferred this be smaller. I would have gladly taken 3.5" screens (or smaller) just so it was more pocketable overall.

I definitely don't need any more handhelds but the RG DS is a keeper. It's usually the one I turn to for everything PS1 and below. I don't know how it performs stock, but I've had a great time with it using Rocknix.

I wish I still had that 3ds. IMO one of the best platforms ever. The hardware was beautiful.

You should be able to get a Retroid Pocket 5 + the 2nd screen add on for under $300. Not sure how laggy that 2nd screen would be, but I can vouch that the RP5 itself is an amazing handheld and has handled every upscaled 3DS game I have thrown at it thus far. As long as the 2nd screen add on doesn't introduce noticeable lag it should be a decent option.
Anyways I think I would prefer either of those options, the anbernic handheld might be around $100 but I am always hearing how abysmaly bad their d-pads are, and that would kill many DS games. Unless you are skilled enough to take this apart and modify the d-pad yourself I'd be hesitant to pick this up. It also got really poor reviews so getting the firmware to a semi-decent state may take some decent updates too.
