Interested in this but the Free Stand discount is removed if you try to pick it up locally in-store. Picking up at a BestBuy is preferred because it makes returns easier in case something comes up.

You would think it makes returns easier. I had a horrible experience returning a partner store purchase to Best Buy. I took it back to the store within the proper return window. They gave me a partner return receipt. It took LG almost a month to refund me the full $2k and that was after countless calls to customer service that led nowhere. Every time I called, they would say it would get done in the next 3 business days. It got to the point I had to use LG's email to president form. I had to include all details and that I would never recommend LG to anyone ever again. Within 2 days of submitting that, I got my money back AND a call from a president liaison. The worst part is the internet is plagued with stories like this.As I've said here before: not all partner store experiences are bad, but every bad experience with them is real.

Also works for the 77" for $2,160 before tax. Google AI says that's within $100 of the lowest seen price. Greentoe shows less than a 50% chance of getting it for that price through them. It's a tempting price to finally jump in.

Didn't work on the 83". Even so, a $1400 premium for 5" (16% more screen) is a big jump. I still have to convince myself it's worth it -- starts to look cheap when you convert it to hourly use. 😆

EDIT: Looks like the 83" has been seen for $3150. I must have missed that!

Trying to decide if I'll notice a difference with the G5 over my current 55" S90F. I love the color on the S90F and images pop more off the screen than my previous 55" C5. I know the G5 is brighter, but both the C5 and S90F are already too bright and I have to dial it down. I use it as my primary desktop monitor and am about 40" away from the screen.

My other concern with the G5 is if the HDMI handshake is as bad as on the C5. I previously had a 48" C4 and it always took 4-5 tries to get a solid signal with my MacBook Pro. It was so bad that Costco had the HDMI board replaced and the issues persisted so they refunded me the C4 after a year. Unbelievably, the C5 was even worst! I kid you not, it sometimes takes me a full 10 minutes of repeated attempts before the LG C5 would properly detect a signal from my MacBook Pro. It is so infuriating every time I sit down to get some work done, so I returned the C5. Fortunately, the Samsung S90F doesn't exhibit any of the HDMI ridiculousness of the C4 and C5. Not sure if LG made any improvements with the HDMI implementation on the G5.

Went ahead and ordered the 55" G5. The price is only $225 more than my 55" S90F and I can decide which one to keep. Let's see what all the hoopla is with the G series.

How long is your HDMI cable? I have a C5 and a 50ft fiber HDMI cable that I plug into my windows gaming laptop. It gets a connection maybe 10% of the time and is frustrating as hell with the HDMI port built into the machine. I have a thunderbolt to HDMI adapter that works perfect every time with the same config so I use that. My theory is that optical cable requires extra power and the built-in HDMI port doesn't give it enough juice most of the time (or it's borderline.)

Please report back to let us know which one you feel is better and why. I'm very curious and am trying to decide between Samsung, LG and Sony.

I've used 3, 6, and 10 ft certified HDMI 2.1 cables and experience the same 10% connection rate. I haven't tried Thunderbolt-to-HDMI though and may give that a go. Thanks!

I got the 55 G5 and S90F now. Decided to keep the G5. I don't watch tv in a pitch black room so the extra brightness of the G5 is welcome, especially in HDR. Both are beautiful. Got the S90f on AI picture mode. Gotta play around with the settings on the G5 to get it to look like the Samsung. Can't go wrong with either one.

The G5 arrived yesterday. Set it up this morning and HDR demos definitely have more of a "wow" factor compared to my previous C5. So far, no HDMI handshake issues with the G5, which is a huge relief!

I plan to return the Samsung 55" S90F since it actually cost more than the 55" S95F I ordered. The S95F won't arrive for another week and will give me time to evaluate the G5 further. The question is whether the G5 is ~$350 better than the S95F, but at these super low clearance prices both are still a great value regardless ($1225 vs $899).

Good to know! Can't wait to see the breakdown and what you end up choosing/for what reasons.
