Most tablets don't come with more than 8GB of RAM, especially not at this price.
In terms of performance, this should be a step above the cheapo Walmart(Onn)/Amazon-branded tablets and a step below the base iPad or the Samsung S10 Lite series. My unc has one and it's fine for watching conspiracies videos on YouTube and browsing the web. Watching a picture-in-picture video while simultaneously rambling on the facebooks is also fine.

Closest competitor to this like another comment alluded to is the Samsung A11+. The A11+ has a better CPU and longer software support while the Lenovo has slightly more RAM and a better display. If someone has a budget of sub $200 and just wants to do media consumption than this Lenovo Idea Tab should be fine.

8gb isn't bad. I don't know how fast the processor is. Maybe someone could give their opinion on the speed of the total package?

I don't know if I could recommend this tablet. I just picked up a Samsung Galaxy A11+ for 209$ with 20% back with my Amazon credit card. The A11+ in my opinion is the lowest performance tablet I would get. It is able to do most of what I ask it to do. Youtube videos are good and light gaming/ emulation. I couldn't imagine trying to use the Lenovo which has much older processor, but with a much nicer screen.

2x2.4GHz Cortex A76 + 6x2.0GHz Cortex A55 - not much better than a Helio G99 or Snapdragon 480. If you've seen a Galaxy A15, it should be around the same performance. Fine for YouTube but I'd want something faster for web browsing.
Honestly, the processor on the base A16 iPad is significantly faster than this.

I wonder if the bootloader can be unlocked, or if unlocking it via adb will brick this one like other Lenovos. (3rd gen tab M10 plus for example).

Also keep in mind this is not the pro version when researching this tablet.

The Pro version is also on sale, but its a fair bit more right now, at north of $200. Better Processor though.

I agree. I've owned a couple of low end previous Lenovo tablets and they're typically below the bottom of the basement in terms of performance and we're mostly unusable.

Lenovo support is terrible with their tablets. I bought one and it received one update from Android 8 to 9. The update had bugs where the wifi didn't work properly with WPA2. People in their forums complained but Lenovo never bothered to issue a patch to fix their broken update because, according to them, the tablet was no longer receiving updates. So they basically bricked a tablet for me. I'll never give this company my money again.

The RAM isn't really an issue though. The chipset used in this is just too slow. It's around Apple A10 level (iPhone 7 / iPad 6th gen). The 2019 Galaxy S10 is faster than this.

One detail that everyone seems to be overlooking is the weight of this tablet. This thing is a brick and a half, so if having a lightweight handheld device is important to you, this is probably not the best option.

I've had about 3 of the previous A series Samsung tablets and they all suuuuuucked even with decent amount of ram.

At this point I'm not sure if it's the ram or the processor to blame but the snapiness of those A series tablets were slow af.

I'm talking like switching between apps or closing all the apps. This also with disabling all the animations in the secret dev option menus. That's when I realize those animations were there to hide how slow the tablet was lol.

8gb is fine. It's the processor really that I don't like. The one on the A11 is better
