The Lenovo Idea Tab is a budget 11 inch Android tablet that stands out for its 2.5K screen, included pen, and solid media use. It handles streaming, web browsing, reading, YouTube, and light gaming well, with Balatro, Roblox, Minecraft, GTA San Andreas, and even some retro emulation getting positive real world use. The headphone jack, USB C fast charging, and 8GB RAM make it feel more capable than cheap entry tablets. The main drawback is the MediaTek 6300, which keeps it from feeling fast for heavier multitasking or demanding apps, and the 480 gram weight may matter if you want something very light. A practical pick for everyday entertainment and casual use.

Yes and no...NO...The Lenovo IdeaPad Pro cannot be used as a monitor via a direct cable connection because its HDMI and USB-C ports are output-only.Yes...There is software support to make this act as a monitor. I suggest you google it or Gemini or Chatgpt.
Tnx on the info.

Does ZTE still sell products in US?
So the company is officially called RedMagic who are owned by ZTE.

Under the name RedMagic.... Redmagic began selling to the US market shortly after its inception in 2018.

Though Ebay may stop you from selling it on their site due to national security Smilie.

Their US Website is... https://redmagic.tech/

The problem is their phones don't have a great camera and don't have all the bands the US companies use. Besides that, the specs are WOW WOW WOW and it shows you what hardware should really cost... IMHO.

Lastly, the company is famous for their cooling system they have designed for their devices. It is some kind of liquid cooling that works with a fan that moves the liquid around your device even though your device is 100% sealed. The fan also goes on when you charge the battery which supposedly helps disperse the heat and helps with the battery life.

I don't understand why tablets are a thing. You can get a laptop for basically the same cost and it would be more supported than a tablet. Most tablets stop being updated after like a year or two. Laptops are longer. Arguably a mid range laptop would be future proof but then those are 500 and price becomes a non starter.

150 tablet is disposable after a year which is terrible

There is a SECOND tablet by Lenovo... Lenovo Idea Tab PRO

This PRO model is a high end mid or low end flagship tablet and is selling for 237.50 right now with 2% Cash back with R A K U T E N.

Forget this deal... it is the PRO model which is the crazy ass deal for 237.50 and it's specs. The only bad thing I can say is I wish the hard drive would be 256GB and not 128GB... but besides that the specs are solid.

Why a Tablet... ( to me it is for media consumption and lite internet usage)
Convenience and ease of use. You can watch a tablet in bed very easy or on a couch, etc.. To me a laptop is really not meant for the lap but meant for a table.
Most $200 Laptops use X86 architecture which runs much hotter then arm cpus which are in every android tablet... point is, a laptop can never become as thin and light as a tablet.

Lastly, this tablet will be updated for a little over 3 years... NOT a year or two.

I personally have a laptop with ubuntu on it which is MY "tablet" lol - your deal sounds better BUT the biggest question is - how long does lenovo update their products? Laptops update almost forever (until hardware is too slow); tablets you are at the mercy of company or open source (at best 2-5 yrs)

Sony tablet I bought back in the day was like.... 3yrs official software, another 2 with open source. All laptops I have owned have been 5 years at least!!!

Really helps, I've heard they are the source cradle power of Chinese handset in earlier days, but they fell down nowadays considered with Huawei, Vivo, Oppo, Xiaomi, etc.. what a pity!

it is easier to get a virus on a PC than on a tablet. While both are vulnerable, the architecture and standard usage patterns of tablets make them inherently more resilient to traditional viruses.

I don't use my tablet for banking and I don't worry too much about security.

But... Lenovo Wi-Fi Only Models (Always Unlocked), so you can install Linage when Lenovo stops supporting this tablet. At this price, I bet the Idea Tab PRO will become a big topic on reddit and Linage.

And yes, Microsoft has been amazing with updates in the past. My i7 3rd gen (12 years old) will get Windows updates until this October. And that laptop was my daily driver until 5 months ago (did install 16GB of RAM and 1 TB SSD). It is like I look at the turbo tax that I have on it... 2014 - 2024.

Form factor. You can't remove the keyboard on most laptops.

Also, it's not like you can only choose one. I have a desktop, laptop, tablet and smartphone. Among those, the laptop actually gets the least use. For reading and web browsing, I prefer to use tablets. When I need some heavy lifting, I'd switch to the desktop. The laptop is only used when I need to work while traveling which is pretty rare.

Touche. Didn't consider weight/laziness in the equation. I lug my laptop everywhere around my house, no need to push cables or anything but it does take time and effort.

Don't think anyone can counter the future updates though. That'll be tough

I mainly use iPads (granted a lot pricier than this deal) and those get 7 years of OS updates plus a couple more years of critical security updates. That's sufficient longevity for me. 🤷 ♀️

Ipads are a whole different league. Price is much higher lol. Windows laptops at 200-500 price point though..... likely better with updates vs no name tablets

WOW...

it is more then effort. Every laptop i have ever owned had vents on the bottom, you can never cover those vents if you want proper airflow/cooling. That means you should use a cutting board if you want to take it on a couch or a bed.

Also, all Lenovo Wifi only tablets are unlockable... I would suspect Linage to work on these tablets in a few years. And that should be your upgrade path in 2030... if your tablet lasts that long (don't drop and crack the screen).

And the weight of holding a laptop vs a tablet is extreme.
