Not being a Pokémon fan, the first (and up until Z-A only) game in the series I rolled the credits on was Arceus and that was mainly for my kids. I got 85+ hours into Z-A and had to force myself to put it down. I found myself actually trying to complete the pokedex and contemplating 100%'ing the game. First Pokémon game I thoroughly enjoyed, but again I'm not a fan of the series so take it for what it's worth. The new battle system made a big difference for me, and while I was initially worried by the small city setting it really worked well with the story and as the game evolved.
The game is best played on Switch 2 as it can look a little rough on Switch 1. Even on Switch 2 don't expect lush environments, I mean it's Pokémon after all. Nothing about the frachise should set such expectations.

*EDIT* I got a sealed copy! Employee asked me if there was a sale online or something because it rang up full price when he got curious. He was shocked how cheap it was and was going to order it online himself lol. It does indeed work on Switch 1.
