10lbs a day? Jfc. Do you have a cam set up?
Ha, I've thought about it for years, but literally asked ChatGPT yesterday for the best cam set up to use. Every day I send out pix to my friends and family, but it's time to put them up for people who actually WANT to see them. LOL

10lb/day?? I need to know more
Haha! I fill the 3 hanging feeders with the seed, and then also put seed on the ground, with a bird bath on the ground for water. There's also a lake 100' away, so I put cracked corn down at the lake. So it's a natural place for the animals to gather...and I feed them. Smilie
Besides the 2-6 squirrels, 2-3 chipmunks and regular birds that are here every day.... today there were: 3 deer that stopped by, a parade of around 10 turkeys, 6 Mallards, 4 Wood ducks, 2 ground hogs (the 4 baby groundhogs just emerged yesterday, but they're eating grass), and the mama racoon will show up later today because she's nursing. Then I'll restock at dusk, and the night shift will show up later tonight with 2-6 deer, 2-3 skunks, probably 2 more racoons, and the possum. Then I'll restock in the morning.
So when the birds flick off those dumb red seeds from the feeder, they'll be cleaned up by the crew on the ground.
I fill a bucket with the junk seed, then a big scoop of sunflower seeds, scoop of cracked corn, and a scoop of the good seed and mix it up. No one complains. Smilie
There aren't any dogs here, so everyone gets along surprisingly well. Yesterday a Coopers Hawk flew down and took a bath in the birdbath. Looked as awkward as a grown up in a kiddie pool. LOL It'll probably be the first video on the account. Smilie But that's how I go through 10lbs of seed a day...and it happens every day, and I love it.

Great deal.
But too far away to justify(for me).
Even with picking up soil and plants.

Walmart everyday price $18.94 Shipped.
Pennington Classic Wild Bird Feed and Seed, 40 lb. Bag
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Pennin...d/16794608
That's my go-to also. It's a good mix of good quality seed and I can't find seed any cheaper. And if you have the Walmart CC, you're getting 5% back.

This better than the 40lb bjs?
No, the BJ's seed looks to be better quality. But it's $22.99 for 40lbs.
Cheap seed usually has those round, red seeds in there that they use for filler to make the bags weigh more. But you could grab a couple bags of this cheap seed and mix it with your good seed, that's what I do. Even 2 parts cheap seed to 1 part good seed would stretch your BJ's seed further.

Thank you for that. I bought Pennington before but switched to the cheaper Walmart brand. However, I found it had a lot of dust, sticks, etc and the quality didn't seem as good. Actually, the Tractor Supply was a little more expensive than the Walmart, but about the same so-so quality. Pennington was better. We go through a lot of seed in the winter, but don't put as much out in the spring and summer. We do fill up several bird baths daily though to go along with the bird feeders, hummingbird feeders, etc.
Totally agree. Walmart used to have REALLY cheap so-so seed for about $11 for the 40lb bag...then Covid hit and the price spiked. $11 went to $16.99 overnight for the same seed. Now their cheap seed is just as much as the Pennington ($18.94), and the Pennington is much better quality.
The birds and the little hummers appreciate you helping them out! Smilie

If you REALLY want a deal, I was checking out at TSC yesterday, and they offered me the Tractor Supply Credit Card. I should have paid more attention to the clerk, but I believe that it was $50 of your CURRENT order....and I think it was actually $50 off your next order too. She said it was a limited promo, but it might be worth looking into for any other seed hoarding cheapskakes like me. Smilie

I happen to have this one (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D1XC8RZC) and have been happy with it. It has survived two brutal northern New England winters. Only once did a firmware update get stuck on the reboot, so I just let the battery run down for a few days and when I plugged the solar back in all was good.

I never did the AI subscription because I'm already well aware of what birds are in my area. And then honestly after a few months (maybe a year) I turned off the motion notifications on my phone, again because it's always the same sets of birds over the seasons. I do peak in still though sometimes and check the recordings for anything interesting.
