Just never know what the battery capacity left will be on a refurb over a few yrs old. The listing doesn't say anything so you could risk getting a pretty weak battery. Maybe not but something to consider. If they were guaranteed to be at 80% capacity or better I'd just think it would say so.

I paid $689+ tax for a M4 MacBook Air open box at my local Best Buy.Best part was when I got home the previous owner bought a 3 year AppleCare + plan already attached to the serial. Then I turned around and sold my MacBook M1 for $250 cash to GameStop which was more than Best Buy was paying ($200 gift card post purchase....no tax savings). The air is the superior form factor for a road warrior like me. The 15 and 16 inch models are too big for me. 13-14 inch is the sweet spot.

Your recommendation to spend just a tiny bit more for an M4 is pretty off the mark. While you did qualify your recommendation when asked, you were recommending a non apples to apples comparison at all. The play is to give up the macbook pro features for consumer grade macbook air?
What if they wanted to have built in hdmi? what if they need the better gpu cores(video editing)? what if they wanted to have sustained multi core power of the Pro processor compared to the regular (m4 consumer not pro)?
