Beware of using this as a UPS! I was impressed at first, using as a UPS but there are serious issues with the unit cutting AC power and turning off my computer, NAS, switch, and other devices for seemingly no reason even with the latest firmware (and I was no where near overloading the 600 watt capacity). Also there is no advertised surge protection, so I bought a good surge protector and then plugged the EcoFlow into it. Also these units won't go to battery power if the input AC voltage gets too low or too high (or it will but the voltage limits are unsatisfactory (too low/high) for a computer UPS). And EcoFlow support told me (on 2026-03-12) "it is recommended to perform a full charge and discharge cycle once per month". I assume this is to maintain battery health and ensure the Battery Management System (BMS) remains accurately calibrated but there is no automated way to do this and no way to do it knowing that the AC outputs will stay on even if plugged into a wall outlet. EcoFlow support (on 2026-03-23) also told me to avoid using the device as a UPS during SOC (state of charge) calibration. This means every month you're suppose to stop using the device as a UPS, fully charge and discharge the battery, then charge it again and then you can use it as a UPS for another month until which time you have to do this all over again. Who wants to have a UPS like this especially if it is a UPS for devices that need to stay on or risk corruption?
Using the 'backup reserve' feature to manually discharge the batteries will likely cut your AC power off even when the unit is still plugged into the grid, as it has done multiple times for me even with the unit indicating the battery is still at 20% or over (and with less than a 300 watt load). Updating the firmware also shuts off AC power. Unexpectedly shutting off the AC power when plugged into the grid is not acceptable for a UPS. My CyberPower UPS units didn't have these issues. I'm not happy that this has still not been fixed and EcoFlow support has been no help. In my opinion, these River 3 Plus units are definitely not "pro-grade" or "premium" UPS units. If they were then they wouldn't shut off AC power unexpectedly and you wouldn't have to manually baby the unit every month by discharging and recharging manually. This becomes even more of an issue if you have multiple units because you have to manually manage each one.
Furthermore, according to AI, using an extra battery, like an EB300 or EB600, can increase the liklihood of unexpected AC power shutoffs "due to complex battery communication and handover logic".
The only reliable "solution" I have found to this is to use a normal lead acid battery UPS (like APC or CyberPower) plugged into the EcoFlow. I put my most critical devices on it (like computers and NAS) so they stay on when the EcoFlow fails to keep the AC power on. Other non-critical items that aren't such a big deal if they get powered off (i.e. smart devices, monitors, speakers, accessories) are not on the lead acid UPS and are directly connected to the EcoFlow AC output.

I had to send mine back after 3 days and they 'repaired' it somehow. Now it hasn't done this AC turn off since. Weirdly it doesn't look like 1 screw was removed and I received the same unit back

Kind if crazy to pay that much for one of these when 1kwh units can be found for less.

The form factor of these smaller units is a good selling point, but then you go on and tack on a battery pack as well... just get a big one and a small one, splitting the difference like this just means more stuff to break or misplace, and a refurb river 3 is only $150 on ebay.

I have been using one as a UPS for three Lacie 4 drive arrays and my desktop setup for about a year and have had no issues. I run my house off a Delta Pro Ultra X and it's been fine at switching the drives over when I manually switch to battery to power the house.
I would take the AI guessing about Ecoflow's battery architecture with a grain of salt.

Do you fully charge and discharge the battery every month, or at least every few months to recalibrate the battery management system (as Ecoflow recommends)?

Same. Been using one as a UPS for modem, router, ext hdd, and media server. No issues.

I have had this setup for about a year as a UPS, but recently ran into major issues with it. It started turning power on and off by itself, almost causing damage to everything I had plugged into it. Now it seems completely dead... Still trying to get a replacement via Ecoflow support, who are quite slow.

Would not recommend!

I have two of these. Specifically the model that comes with two wireless batteries (pretty useless, at least to me). Purchased at Costco.

One is downstairs pulling basically 30W 24 hours/day (router, PoE switch, and some other things).

The other one was in my office. It had anywhere from 50W to 300W going through it continuously. Failed about 6 weeks ago. I went back and forth with EcoFlow and in the end will be sending it back for a replacement.

It displayed some error messages that I couldn't find explanations for. I also asked EcoFlow and got no answer (as to what they meant). Pretty useless. The errors were "Error 411" at first, then "Error 435". After power cycling the unit, I never saw "Error 435" again. But I saw "Overload 50Hz" every time.

I have a Delta 3+ in place of the River 3+ now. Haven't had any issues with that unit or my Delta 2 Max.

5 year warranty is nice to have. I do have to send this unit in before they send me a replacement. I wouldn't have minded an "express" replacement, with a credit card hold in case the original isn't sent in. That option wasn't offered, and I didn't ask.

Less than 2 years old and failed. But, sh*t happens. 5 year warranty certainly is nice to have. And EcoFlow while slow, has certainly honored the warranty so far.

By the way... This same combo (I'm pretty sure) can be had for $338 on a certain website which bears a name starting with "T" and ending with the name of a certain Australian flightless bird... (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emu).

Combine that with 15% cash back from a certain website... plus another 4% if you use the associated credit card... and we're talking ($338+tax)-($338*0.19) = $297.44 in my state.

I've bought a River 3+ and EB600 battery separately from the aforementioned website, with the same cash back. No issues. I've also bought four of EcoFlow's 12V 100Ah Trolling Motor batteries the same way. Cash back approved within 24 hours or so. Never any issues.

How often did you fully charge and discharge the battery to maintain it and the battery management system (EcoFlow recommends once a month)?
