Any audiophiles out there who can recommend these or if I should just buy used (older) Klipsch surround speakers? Looking to set up a stereo setup for my vinyl/CDs and TV but not sure if it would be better to buy new or just find something used.

Wait for good deals on RP series instead. Worth it at a good discount. Well, that's if they ever sell more than the towers on discount again.

As others have said, RP series. Start witth something like RP-8000F II towers and build from there. You might not even need a sub if you're not a bass head

I bought this costco set in twenty twenty one. honestly I wouldn't recommend it. i've upgraded the center and rear channels (504c / 502s ) and it makes such a massive difference, man. you can definitely get by with this set.But I would just wait for a good deal on towers or get the set that the other people are recommending.

I will say, it seems like good deals on high quality home theater equipment are becoming more and more rare.

You will be a lot more happier if you get the Triangle speakers. They will cost a little more but you get a much better sound

The Reference line is sort of Klipsch's entry level. It's not a bad deal at this price, but the step up Reference Premiere (or RP) line is significantly better, especially for critical music listening. The RP8000F II tower speakers often go on sale for around $800-900 a pair, and they're phenomenal all-arounders. Arguably the best full range speakers you can get for under a grand.

Or, the RP-500M II and RP-600M II bookshelf speakers frequently go on sale for $300-$350, and sound fantastic paired with a sub.

This is a good deal if you want to grab everything at once, and be done. But if you prioritize sound quality, it's worth waiting for sales on the RP line.

upfiring Atmos speakers usually not worth it, if you want to have height effect - you need to add ceiling speakers.

I am NOT an audiophile, but I replaced my 10-15 year old Klipsch Reference bookshelf speakers with with a larger size reference model from 2025 upon moving into a larger space and they were highly disappointing. I ended up going with RPs (two bookshelfs and a center channel) and they are very nice.

Indeed, klipsch has rearranged their naming schemes a few years back. "Reference " used to be their premium line and "synergy " was their entry level. Then they got rid of the synergy name and started calling their entry line "reference" and their premium line "reference premier".

Not great, unless you have an overwhelming WAF need to have towers.

Keep in mind that Klipsch claiming this is a "5.0.2" system is based on the towers having those useless upfiring "Atmos" speakers built into their tops, which will do nothing because for upfiring speakers to be effective they have to be precisely aimed (and your ceiling can't be sloped or too high) so that the "bounce" actually hits where you sit not some random spot 2-3 feet away from it.

$1K could be much better spent in any number of ways. Here's one example of 5 speakers with a decent starter sub for the same money, and zero risk of ear fatigue from those cheap Reference series (the RP series are less prone to this well-known downside) tweeters: https://rslspeakers.com/products/...ter-system

Well, their "Reference" series have always been their cheapest entry level tier which (along with the "Synergy" series sold at Best Buy) earned the company its reputation of having shrill, ear-piercing treble. An unfair rep because their top-shelf Heritage series don't have that problem, and neither do the mid-tier Reference Premier series.

As others have mentioned, save for a Reference Premier deal instead. An RP404C/500C (goes on sale for ~$300) + a pair of RP5000F (sale for ~$500/pair) will get you way more room filling sound for less money than this. You could use anything to replace the rinky dink rears included here with the remaining $200 (or put it towards a sub or upgrading to 504C II center).

The "upfiring Atmos" here is genuinely useless. The effectiveness of upfiring Atmos is questionable to begin with, the built-in Atmos speakers here are weak, and there is very little content that even uses the channel effectively anyways. Unless you are hosting watch parties of Master and Commander on BluRay with built-in ceiling Atmos speakers in a carefully designed home theater room, then you will probably never even notice the height channel.

This is a pretty bad deal compared to the sets you can get from Adorama. Only benefit is Costco return policy.
