The need to dress differently for cold / warm weather, shave, build a camp, cook, etc all while going through multiple level of menus was a real turn off.
I actually get sometimes exhausted when playing too long non-stop action games like DOOM (even though I begrudgingly finished them) but this was way too slow and monotonous. Enjoy much more games like Horizon Zero / Forbidden. Even slower RPGs like Fallout I can enjoy. RDR2 just had way too much sim component to it. If I was single, childless, and in my teens or 20s, then maybe I could get more invested. I do btw realize my opinion is in the minority however I also know many agree with me. Its no where like a GTA5 experience in the wild west like I expected so maybe that's on me.

Somewhat related, you can get Red Dead Redemption on GTA+ for $8/mo if you're okay with rentals.
