Featuring a European style head with a 4" blade and a 4 1/2" cutting edge, it takes a big bite with every swing. Plus, it features a very sturdy, durable straight-grained American Hickory handle. In our extensive field-tests in the outback of Australia, the Trail Boss was used to chop kindling, clear roads and trails, to build blinds and even to chop down a fair sized tree! Head weight: 1lb 13 oz (not NATF legal). Total weight: 2lb 9.5 oz.

It's CLEARLY not marketed as, or meant to be used as, a SPLITTING axe, it's a chopper. Saying that it's not good for splitting, causing some people to devalue the axe, is like saying about a car that's it's terrible on snow trails. 🙄 I've owned this axe for years and the people who REALLY use it on trails and camping are the ones you should be listening to. Just look at the actual product reviews by real axe users and you'll see that this is a really good value axe at this price, period!
